Instructions for Online Students: Use of the Learning Management System (LMS)

Mulungushi Central University College utilizes a user-friendly Learning Management System (LMS) designed to support flexible, accessible and self-paced online learning for students locally and internationally.

Our online learning environment allows students to study conveniently from anywhere while accessing written lessons, recorded lectures, assignments, assessments and academic support through the student dashboard.

1. Account Setup

Upon logging into the LMS for the first time, students are required to:

  • Upload a profile picture

  • Complete and update their BIO information

  • Choose account visibility settings:

    • Public Account – allows interaction and networking with other students

    • Private Account – restricts profile visibility

2. Login Instructions

Students can access the LMS using:

  • their registered email address

  • their password

If you forget your password:

  • Click “Forgot Password”

  • Follow the password reset instructions sent to your email

3. Accessing Your Program

Students may access their learning program using either of the following methods:

Method 1: Profile Menu

  • Log in to your account

  • Click the top-right dropdown arrow (▼)

  • Select “Program”

  • Enter your assigned program

Method 2: Menu Navigation

  • Click the menu icon (three dotted lines)

  • Open the task pane

  • Select “Dashboard”

  • Choose your program

  • Click “Enter”

4. Flexible Self-Paced Learning Structure

Mulungushi Central University College offers flexible monthly enrolments throughout the year with a self-paced learning model.

Program Duration

Diploma & Bachelor’s Degree Programs

  • Semester Duration: 6 months

  • Includes multiple courses within the curriculum

Certificate Programs

  • Duration: 3 months

  • Offered as focused once-off programs with limited curriculum structure

Students may begin learning at different times throughout the year based on admissions approval.

5. Mode of Instruction

The institution does not operate mandatory live classroom sessions. Learning is delivered through:

  • written lesson materials

  • recorded video lectures

  • assignments and assessments

  • tests and examinations

  • lecturer-uploaded resources and guidance

Students learn independently through the LMS dashboard.

6. Understanding Self-Paced Learning

Self-paced learning means students are responsible for organizing and managing their own study schedule.

Students are expected to:

  • create personal study timetables

  • manage their learning progress

  • study lessons consistently

  • watch educational videos regularly

  • complete assignments within institutional timelines

Progress depends on:

  • discipline

  • consistency

  • time management

  • commitment

7. Student Responsibility

Students are expected to:

  • follow lessons topic-by-topic

  • understand their course curriculum and syllabus

  • conduct independent research where necessary

  • manage their own academic progress responsibly

Please Note:
The institution does not provide foundational teaching in:

  • English

  • Mathematics

  • Science

  • Basic research skills

Students are expected to possess the minimum academic qualifications required for admission.

8. Time Management

Students are encouraged to create a personal academic schedule to:

  • organize study sessions effectively

  • allocate time for each course

  • balance studies with employment or personal responsibilities

This is especially important for working and distance-learning students.

9. Platform Engagement

Students are required to remain active on the LMS by:

  • logging in regularly

  • reviewing updates and announcements

  • completing coursework consistently

Failure to engage with the platform may result in:

  • delayed academic progress

  • incomplete assignments

  • examination difficulties

10. Communication & Academic Support

Where necessary, lecturers may provide additional support through:

  • Zoom

  • Google Meet

  • Live dashboard sessions

The LMS dashboard also provides:

  • announcements

  • academic updates

  • email notifications

  • learning support information

12. Payments & Student Account Access

Students are required to maintain up-to-date fee payments.

The LMS system is automated and may:

  • restrict access

  • suspend dashboard usage

  • limit course access

in cases of outstanding balances or unpaid fees.

Minimum Qualifications

Undergraduate Programs

Applicants must possess:

  • Five (5) O-Level credits or better including:

    • English

    • Mathematics

    • Science

    • and any other two subjects

Applicants must satisfy all admissions requirements for their chosen program.

How to Apply

Applicants are required to complete the official Application Form online and submit all requested academic documentation.

Students must also attach proof of payment for the non-refundable application fee of:

Important Notice

Students are strongly advised to remain disciplined, active and committed throughout their studies in order to successfully complete their academic programs and benefit fully from the institution’s flexible online learning environment.​

Examination & Assessment Fees

Students enrolled under the flexible self-paced learning model are required to complete both assessment examinations and final semester examinations as part of their academic evaluation.

Assessment Examination Fee (Mini-Semester)

Assessment examinations are conducted every three (3) months during the semester progression.

Fees:

  • Local Students: ZMW 300 per assessment examination

  • International/Non-National Students: USD 30 per assessment examination

Final Semester Examination Fee

At the end of each semester, students are required to sit for the official final semester examinations.

Fees:

  • Local Students: ZMW 500 per semester examination

  • International/Non-National Students: USD 40 per semester examination

Please Note:

  • Examination fees must be paid before students are granted access to examination materials or assessment portals.

  • Students with outstanding balances may have restricted access to examinations and academic results.

  • All payments should be made through the institution’s approved bank accounts and payment procedures.
